SCRATCH ART : using 4 simple things

scratch art

Scratch Art is something that has been on my to-do list for a long time now. Chintu loved discovering the colours popping out as he was scratching. Gets the child guessing and there was so much laughter throughout.

Most of you might already be aware of it , yet I’m just sharing it as it might help a few others.

Things Required for scratch art :

  • Plain paper
  • oil pastels
  • Black acrylic colour / poster colour
  • A coin

What we did?

First use different oil pastels and colour the paper completely. Once done, use the black paint and cover on top of it. Now let it dry completely. After the black paint is completely dried, use a coin to scratch the black paint off and you get to see the colours popping out.

Chintu just enjoyed scratching it randomly, you can also write or draw , do anything you wish. Also you can use any colour as a replacement to black.

We have just made a random art work, you can draw something of your choice, write anything you want it. It will look gorgeous when the colour pops out from the black. The oil pastel colours can totally be of your choice based on what excatly you want to do. Also, the coin can be replaced with tooth picks, which will make it easier to draw and write.

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY?

  • The happiness it gave my son, that is what mattered to me first
  • Easy to setup and things are easily available at home, you don’t need to invest in anything separately.
  • The texture of the art is lovely and unique in it way.
