Preparing for the Baby : Newborn Essentials

With all the attractive products out there in the retail market as parents-to-be, especially while expecting for the first time, we get overwhelmed. Sometimes end up buying way too many things. Babies don’t need much – “less is more”. From my experience as a mom of two, let me share a short list of newborn essentials that should take you through the first 3 months.

Newborn Clothes

Depends on where you live – the weather. To begin with we will need one-piece clothes. Also, if the weather is cold like our place, you can choose to use layers of clothes.

  1. Jhablas
  2. Half-sleeve & full-sleeve T-shirts
  3. Rompers: Onesies and Jumpsuits
  4. Socks, mittens & caps
  5. Sweaters
  6. Pull-on pants

Linking you up to infant clothing collection – you will find a personally small curated list of infant clothing here. Most of which we have personally tried and loved.

Diapering

I personally prefer not using disposable diapers as much as possible. Would suggest you try avoiding disposable diapers during the initial days at least to keep track of the baby’s pee count. Nappies might have to be changed 10-12 times on an average a day.

  1. Cloth diapers and accessories
  2. Nappies / Langots
  3. Disposable diapers

Diapering accessories: Changing Mat, Wet wipes, washcloth, and rash cream if using disposable diapers.

Even if you plan on cloth diapering and using cotton nappies/langots for diaper free time – do have a small stock of disposable diaper.
